Well, this Summer didn’t turn out as expected. Some family emergencies occurred and that’s life sometimes. So I didn’t get to do as much of my Summer Bucket List as I anticipated but that’s okay because family comes first. The one thing I did get to do was read. Hooray! I’m usually a pretty slow reader and get distracted with things like the television, napping or stalking people on instagram but I’ve been trying to keep those time wasters to a minimum and pull out my book whenever I have some down time.
Let’s take a look.
These are the books I have read. All pretty interesting but for me Elanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine really got to me. It was sooo good, it made me laugh and actually made me cry (which I don’t do often) with books. I was rooting for “Elanor” from the first page! I think there is a movie in the works but it probably won’t stand up to the book but I’m anxious to see it. It was awesome!! I also really liked Convenience Store Women. It was different, funny and often times relatable. I just finished Sharp Objects last week and whoa! I’m interested in seeing the mini-series that just came out. All good books.
Here’s what I’m reading right now. I’m looovving Strange Weather in Tokyo. So good. I’ve been devouring it and can’t wait to get to the end. I’m reading the sun and her flowers at a slow pace. I love the drawings that Rupi Kaur includes in her books.
Here are the next three books I have waiting on my mantle. I think I’ll save the Shirley Jackson and Wilkie Collins for October, you know for the greatest time of the year…Halloween. Scary movies and scary books are my jam.
I hope this day finds you well and you have some time to read!
