Well, Spring is officially here. The days are getting longer. The sun is out and the flowers are blooming. The virus numbers are going down (woo-hoo). I am vaccinated. I am excited to see friends and drink coffee at cafes soon.
Today is my birthday. It was a very mellow, low-key birthday. I got some nice text and phone calls from friends and family. While quiet, I’m glad that I’m here to celebrate another year, especially after the year that just happened. I took delight in thoughtful gifts, flowers and a beautiful sunny day. Hope is on the horizon.
Today is December 26th and in many cultures it’s the day after Christmas. I’ve always kind of hated this day. You see, there is all this build-up going into Christmas, starting right after Halloween. All the decorations start going up, sales being advertised up, down and all-around you. I get excited about the day. I love looking at all the decorations in my neighborhood and I truly love buying presents for my loved ones. I […]
For the most part, I’ve adjusted okay to pandemic life. Today I was thinking that there are a few things that I really miss. Things like this … Buying fresh flowers and fruits at the Farmer’s Market. A Sunday regular for me. Library and book store visits. Sure I’ve been reading books on my iPad and I’ve ordered a few books from my favorite bookstore but I miss browsing the aisles, the air condition and […]
These photos were taken on March 7, 2020. It was a mini pre-birthday outing with my sister. Dumplings at Din Tai Fung and mid-afternoon drinks and snacks at my favorite bookstore that had just opened up a wine bar. Books and drinks, I couldn’t wait to spend more time there. These are the last evidence of an “outing” before the world changed about a week later. A world-wide pandemic hit and everything changed. I’ve been […]

I’ve been house sitting this week. It’s a cute little house and I just love the little vignettes my friends have created in their space. There is a cute vintage feel to the place. There’s also a cat included in the house. Cats are interesting creatures. I’ve never had one but have cat-sitted a few times. I can never really figure them out. I can’t tell if they are playing with me or trying to […]
It’s the last official Sunday of the Summer. I woke up at 5:00 am today. I looked out my door and saw this sky. It’s a fuzzy photo but that’s okay. I walked my dog and the air felt brisk and fresh. I could feel a change. Soon it will be dark by 5:00 pm, pumpkins will be sitting on porches and door steps, the leaves will fall to the ground and Halloween costume ideas […]
On our annual camping/family reunion trip up the coast, we took a little time to visit Summerland, California. Our destination was Red Kettle Coffee Shop and while we were there, we found a nice little secret beach. Such a cute coffee shop and some good coffee. I feel so absolutely lucky to live in California. I wish I lived closer to the coast but that’s okay, it’s a freeway ride away. I especially love the […]
It’s been some time since I’ve shared what I have been reading, so here it is. Udon Noodle Soup by Yan Hu – I loved it. I guess you could say it was the first graphic novel I’ve read. I loved the illustrations and the short stories. Some of them even made me teary-eyed. I came upon it at “A Shop Called Quest” in the Arts District of Downtown, Los Angeles. I’m glad I picked […]
